Artist Statement

I’m a multidisciplinary artist based in West Sussex.

My work is rooted in everyday life, things I notice at home, in the garden, or while going about daily routines. I draw these observations quickly and directly, often allowing forms to overlap, wobble or distort. These initial drawings become the starting point for paintings, prints and sculptural pieces.

I’m interested in the point where familiar objects begin to shift, when a tree, table or vessel feels slightly off, playful or uncertain. I often work back into shapes, filling them with marks, patterns and small visual fragments that suggest stories without fully explaining them.

Alongside two-dimensional work, I make small sculptural pieces using found and everyday materials. These allow me to think through balance, weight and texture in a more physical way, and they feed back into the drawings and prints.

My process is experimental and material-led. I’m drawn to simple, accessible materials and to reusing what’s already around me. Through layering, sanding back, and reworking, each piece builds up a history of decisions, adjustments and traces of touch.

At the centre of my practice is a curiosity about how we see and relate to ordinary things, how attention can turn the familiar into something more playful, more ambiguous, or more alive.

Before studying art, I had a career in IT and Consultancy. I later completed a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art at West Dean College, West Sussex, where I am based
