Over the course of the Chichester Open Studio ‘Snap Shot’ exhibition and open studio weekends, Clare will showcase her practice spanning drawing, painting, printmaking and structures. The work explores how we look, what we notice, or miss, in a fast, screen-saturated world with ever changing rules.
Investigating perception and experience through movement and layers, she selects colours, materials and processes to describe density, texture, fleeting impressions, and the temporal qualities of daily life. Forms exist between states, neither wholly present nor absent, familiar nor alien. Clae encourages viewers to pause and notice subtle shifts in tone, texture and depth that emerge through sustained attention, offering an alternative to the quick consumption of images in contemporary visual culture.
